Find Cheap Public Liability Insurance on the Internet

December 31st, 2008

With the compensation civilisation growing all over the world, possessing professional indemnity insurance is turning out to be more and more vital. If you don’t at present have public liability insurance built-in into your building cover, then now is probably the point in time to look into buying better cover. Here is some recommendations about why you require insurance, & what to pay attention to. Protect your company against claims with business insurance from Insured Risks.

What is professional indemnity cover: Professional Indemnity insurance is an insurance policy that shelters you from claims that other individuals might make against you in the occurrence of an accident. If someone damages their property or wounds themselves in or around your property or company then the public liability insurance will protect you for any charges that may possibly occur. Insurance typically ranges from two hundred and fifty pounds up to one million pounds.

What are you protected against: Insurance will insure you against accidents or loss that others may endure in or around your home or organisations premises. You are protected against claims from trespassers, on top of injury that might possibly arise to anybody from falling items or personnel carrying out maintenance. If an accident happens on your property and somebody claims against you, your insurance contract will assist you to pay any costs.

What’s included Countless contents or property insurance covers enclose in-built liability insurance. You ought to check with your insurer if this is the case, and what level of cover you have. Even if the insurance is incorporated, you must ensure that you are adequately covered for any form of accidents that may perhaps crop up.

Payment: The payments that you are expected to have to pay depend on the level of protection you want. If you simply insure your home, then the payments are very likely to be much lower than if you are covering a business. On the other hand, payments are somewhat cheap inexpensive the amount of cover that you get, & it is therefore essential for any individual running a company.

Develop a Kick-Ass Plot!

December 30th, 2008

What is a plot?

The dictionary definition of the word ‘plot’ relating to a story is:

“The plan or main story of a literary work” [Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary]

So the plot then, is the planned storyline.

Some writers fly by the seat of their pants, not knowing where they are going or how they will get there, whereas, other writers would never dream of writing a story or a novel without some initial planning.

If you were about to take a journey to a strange place, wouldn’t you think it would be wise to plan how you would get there, rather than leaving things to chance? Here, I’m going to share my secrets with you of how to develop a kick-ass plot!

Do’s and Don’ts of plotting a novel:

* Do think about your characters. Aim to find out as much as you can about them beforehand. Character drives plot.

* Don’t rush in without any forward planning, that is a sure fire way to give up at the first hurdle!

* Do ensure that you know and fully understand your characters’ motivations.

* Don’t rely on coincidences; you will be cheating the reader!

* Do ask yourself, what is the theme of my story/novel? By understanding what the theme is, you are more likely to understand the motivation of your characters.

* Don’t write any ‘next step scenes’ that do not advance the storyline, end in a hook to the next scene, do not move the characters closer to their goals, do not contain reasonable motivation or deepen characterization.

* Do think about creating character charts, back stories for main characters, a story board with ‘pictures’ of your characters and settings.

Ask yourself the following questions:

1.What do I want my novel to say? [Theme]

2.Which character is best able to say what needs to be said? [Characterization]

3. How can this message be conveyed to the reader? [Storyline]

4. Where is the action going to take place? [Setting]

Here’s an example:

The theme of my story could be about ‘Loss’. The character best to tell this story is the heroine who has lost both her parents in a car accident. The message can be conveyed to the reader via her dialogue and internal thoughts. She fears loss so much that she is unable to get close to the hero.

You will be able to build on this by asking yourself the following:

Who? Why? What? Where? When? How?

Who - Hero: Blake Carter, Heroine: Stephanie Dale

Why - They meet through work, he is the pilot, and she is an air hostess.

What - There is conflict between them when she finds out he is the man who humiliated her at a recent staff meeting.

Where - The action takes place on board the airplane and in Britain and Australia.

When - The time span is during the summer through to Christmas.

How - Although there is conflict, somehow they are drawn to one another.

Think of your romance plotline as the hero’s and heroine’s journey. The Hero’s Journey has been used in storytelling for hundreds of years. Both characters need to get from A to B. Place a few obstacles in their path for them to overcome during their journey. Make it an adventure. Then, just when all seems lost [the black moment], there needs to be a sacrifice made by the person who has the most to lose. Finally, they are triumphant, a victory is won.

Think about your plot. What are the bare bones of your story? Think about the paragraph above…how can you send your hero and heroine on a journey together?

Word count should be somewhere between 500 and 1000 words.

N.B: This will be a synopsis or summary of your story written in the present tense.

Rambling Thoughts on Trusting Our Readers

December 29th, 2008

I’ve been thinking lately of trust. All of us presumably join a writer’s group such as http://www.Writing.Com/ to mingle with other writers and share thoughts on our work. We want to read and be read. We want to share our excitement when a piece is picked up and published, no matter how small the publisher may be. We want to be told when something isn’t working in our latest piece and we want to trust our readers to tell us the truth.

Do we trust our readers to tell us the truth as well as they can? Do we trust them when they say, “Your work is good,” but not when they say, “Your work needs work.” Or vice-versa.

I once gave a perfect rate and a ribbon to a piece I thought deserved it. To my mind, it was very good, finished and I would buy it. The author didn’t trust my opinion and so took away the joy I felt. My ego was hurt, but I think I understand, I’m trying to anyway. He didn’t respond so I have to guess. I came up with two possible reasons.

1. He felt I was giving a fluff review. Maybe he has received so many of these that he didn’t trust any reader who told him he was a good writer.

2. He has received some very harsh comments with no explanations or encouragement to sooth his self-esteem. And he believes them.

Many writers, who are convinced their work stinks, choose to trust only the negative comments. Some, who are convinced their work is always perfect, choose to not trust a reader who says otherwise.

A writer’s self-confidence partially depends on being able to trust the readers of his group to tell him what they think - truthfully, gently and with encouragement. But, to depend on or blame readers for the state of our own confidence is placing an impossible burden on them.

Find a writers group who you can trust to tell you the truth. They should be able to do it constructively so it doesn’t hurt too much. Search the web or better yet, come and look over Http://www.Writing.Com It’s a community of writers who know how it feels to be on the receiving end of the deadly red pen, and they try very hard to soften the blows. They really do. You can trust them to be honest and gentle.

Above all, enjoy your journey and have fun learning. Always Write On!

Cry No More My Love

December 29th, 2008

Cry no more my love; shed none now your tears.
For, I’ve departed in your love’s consent?
Ay ’twas not! Of pains I gave in you bares!
Passed now your grieves, for in death I have went.
Nay, long yourself have lingered in anguish
Of impediments to cheers have I gave;
Troubled mind and distressed heart you don’t wish;
Perverse head of mine curtains, not behave.
Forgive not my heart from sham and redeem;
Free yourself in cage of anxiety.
Death has come to devour me as it seem,
So let it does for I breathe in cruelty.
To reprieve now of late myself will ask;
Woe not in my fled! Thy love’s just, mine’s dusk.

Phishing - Its Signs and Your Options

December 29th, 2008

Phishing is the act of some individual sending an email to a user in an attempt to scam the user to release personal information. Is it easy to determine if it’s a scam? Sometimes - but not always. I hope to give you enough examples and information to help you to safeguard yourself from these unsavory individuals.

In addition, sometimes the email is sent to malicious software so as to render your computer helpless. Thus, it is important that you do not click on the link they provide, because that is the trigger that will load the software to your system.

EXAMPLES OF PHISHING

You receive hundreds of emails in your mailbox, but one email catches your eye - it directs you to a website, requesting that you need to update your personal information. It requests such personal information as:

passwords
credit card numbers
social security number
bank account numbers

“It appears to be legitimate”, you say to yourself. And you also notice that the emails are from companies that you have been doing business with for a while. Warning: The website could be bogus.

Here are several examples of phishing in action.

1. E-mails stating they are from E-bay and they feel that your account may have been compromised and would like you to verify your information with they so conveniently supply. DO NOT click on it.

2. E-mails from Paypal or your bank asking that you verify your information because they feel that your account has been compromised, or heaven forbid, suspended. Same scenario, different company. DO NOT click on the link.

3. E-mail that states that an unauthorized transaction has occurred on your account. Please click the link below and confirm your identity. DO NOT.

4. Here’s a work at home scam - We have seen your resume on Monster and feel you would fit our position. If you are interested, please go to our website, look over the experience required and submit your resume if you have this background. Website is professional looking, offer looks good - but it could be a scam.

WHAT ARE THEY AFTER

In the above examples they are after information about you, be it passwords, credit cards, social security numbers, anything that can identify you - and that which they can use to profit from you.

The job email is used to verify that the email address is a true blue, active email address. What do they do with this info - they sell these accounts to spammers for good money. They need to verify your email addressbecause if the spammers come up empty - this person’s business is dead.

HOW TO VERIFY SAFELY

1. If they want you to verify your account, do not cut and paste, or use the link they provide in the email. Close your Internet session, open a new session and enter the site that you have on record to verify.

2. Emails requesting resumes - Verify their account before you send your resume. When verifying - these red flags should be considered:

1) If they are hesitant to provide a phone number - might be a scam. 2) If their business address is not verifiable -might be a scam. 3) If the website is new - might be a scam. 4) If they use a large company’s nameand that company never heard of them - might be a scam.
5) Again, verify this information before you send your resume.

WAYS TO PROTECT YOURSELF

Here are some quick tips to protect you and your computer system.

1. Use anti-virus software and a firewall - keep them up to date.

2. If you have a broadband connection make sure you have a firewall in place.

3. Don’t email personal or financial information.

4. Before providing personal information - search to see if the site is secure - look for a lock icon. However, remember not all phishers are stupid - in fact, they could be computer savvy enough to forge security icons. Thus, look for a site whose link looks like this:
https://www.somename.com — this shows that it is a secure site.

5. Coupons from respected companies - Verify that it is a true-blue coupon from the company - I had one coupon sent to my email address from what I thought was Staples. Verified it with Staples - not a coupon honored by Staples. When on the Internet - if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it still may not be a duck!

6. When making transactions on the Internet - be it online banking, Paypal, Internet Gold, etc. - complete your transaction, log out of the website, and close out of your Internet Explorerand then continue with a new session of Internet Explorer.

WHERE TO FORWARD SPAM THAT IS PHISHNG

If you encounter spam that is phishing, or are a victim of a phishing scam, you can forward the information to spam@uce.gov and to the company, bank or organization that the email may have stated they are from. In many cases, the other organizations have information on their website where you can report the attempted scam.

In addition, if you have been scammed, and you wish to file a complaint - go to ftc.gov.

To conclude, no one is immune to spam or a scam. But try to be ever vigilant and do your due diligence with anything you do on the Internet. But being human is a scammer’s hope - they know that most will ignore the bait, but some will be tempted. So, if you so humanly slip, and succumb to a phishing scam, you can report them to ftc.gov.

Why You Should Choose a Jamis Bike

December 28th, 2008

Other than brands such as Jamis Bikes, Specialized and GT, there are other factors you should consider when choosing a new bicycle such as price and intended use.

Most people base their mountain bike buying decisions on price and brand which usually makes for poor decisions. There are many different types of bikes and one should be chosen based on how you want to use it.

Some examples of these are off road, cross country, leisure and commuter bikes. If you are looking to go on mountain biking trails, you should choose a trial bike. In conclusion, when choosing a new bicycle, remember to consider other factors such as intended use, price and brand before making a purchasing decision as you are likely to end up with a much better bike for your money.

Property Index is an online platform that gives buyers access to thousands of properties www.propertyindex.com. Property in Dubai is currently booming so browse the range on offer at Property Index.

This is one of the truly popular areas in our times, and considering the gorgeous landscape and sunshine surrounding you, how could you say no…. Property in Dubai is steeped in history, art and culture, this realm of the world has a long tradition as a home to quite a number of nations. Around 25 years ago you would find very few of English people looking for property in Dubai. Ask any individual who has moved to Dubai and they’re likely to tell you the same. Well, some would tend to view it as a plain craze and others tend to view it as a approximating to an obsession. The people interested in transferring here range from young freshly weds in search of a new life perspective to pensioners who intend to enjoy themselves and take it easy.

Note, though, that you are liable to encounter some obstructions when purchasing property abroad - you’ll find there are 100s of varied actions when planning, sightseeing or finalizing the deal. In spite of this buyers are finicky in a location so full of shiny terrain and panorama. It presently has practically all a buyer might possibly fall for and lots more.

Lose Your Belly Fat And Show Off Your Six Pack Abs

December 26th, 2008

Have you noticed that most people will never fail to include abdominal muscle exercises in their routines and yet somehow or other, they can never own that coveted 6 pack abs?

Have you been religiously doing your abdominal muscle exercises? Is your abs showing to your satisfaction? No? Why? Do you know that your abdominal muscle is one of the easiest muscles to build but yet why is it that most people have difficulty in developing that 6 pack abs?

Here is the truth. Those of you who are working out your abs regularly do probably own that much sought after six pack. Yes, you do. The only trouble is that your belly fat is covering them. Your abs will not show up well if you have a body fat ratio of more than 12%. The more fat you burn off, the more defined your abs will be. You will own that rippling washboard abs when your body fat is 10% or less. So if you have fat on your belly, forget about abdominal exercises and burn off the fats first.

There is another reason why people put in so much effort to develop their abdominal muscle and yet their abs are not showing although they have low body fat. Again, there is a simple explanation. They are doing the wrong exercises and working out in bad form.

Let’s take for example the most common abs exercises, the sit up and the leg raisers. Everybody seem to be doing these two exercises not knowing that these exercises really don’t do much for their abs. Don’t believe me? Ok…try this. When you do your sit up or leg raisers, place your palms on your hip on the area connecting to your thigh and perform the exercises. Tell me what did you feel? Ahhh….you are getting it. Those muscles there are doing most of the work. Those are your hip flexor muscles. Since your hip flexors are doing most of the work, how can you develop your abs effectively?

So you say, from now on I will do crunches instead. Well, I have another surprise for you. Most people perform their crunches wrongly too. Think about it. Why is the exercise called the “crunch”? It is because you must squeeze your abs so are that you are crunching them. In order to squeeze your abs hard, you have to curl up like a prawn and breath out all the air in your lungs at the top position and then squeeeeeeeze the muscles so hard that you feel a burn. That will take a few seconds to crunch out all the air before you lower to the beginning position again. You can’t do this effectively if you just go up, down, up down, up down rhythmetically. So, if you have been doing hundreds of crunches everyday with minimal result, now you know why. In fact, it is almost impossible for the average guy to do tens of properly performed crunches and not to say hundreds of them. The same squeezing principle applies to other abs exercises.

Ok….now that you know why your abs are not showing up well, so get on with burning your fats and perform your workout in correct form. You will then see your 6 pack abdominal muscle in no time.

The Best way to learn to craft good titles is to read as many titles as you can. Scan the Article Directories see what grabs you. Go to the Supermarket and look over those Gossip Papers. Many an Expert Copy Writer told me those are the best places to learn about Titles and Headlines.

2 - The Abstract

The Abstract may be as Important and in Some Cases More Important then the Title, Many Article Directories want a Short Abstract about your Article. They will display this right under your title in their Listing. Wouldn’t it be a Crime to grab them with an Amazing Title only to loose them with a Terrible Abstract. Think of your abstract as an Extension of your Title or a Sub Title. The best Abstract will build suspense and peak curiosity making the reader wanting to know more.

5 - The Closing Paragraph

Leave the Reader feeling good, Sum up your article maybe make a final key point. Direct them to your Resource box if they want further information. Maybe even thank them for getting this far.

6 - The Resource Box

The Resource Box is the Big Payoff. The Resource Box is the reason you wrote this Article. A Resource Box should contain

Finally, An Exciting Way To Generate Qualified Leads…And… Get Your Prospects All Fired-Up About

December 25th, 2008

I’m going to reveal a lead-generation selling formula, you can make a fistul of dollars with.

It’s a lot of fun to use, but it’s often over-looked.

Want to know what it is?

O.K., I’ll tell you. It’s…

Sweepstakes!

And here’s how you can start using sweepstakes as a lead generation tool, to build your list of prospects:

Let’s say you own a retail furniture store. Here’s what you do:

You run a display ad (or even better yet, you use several press releases) that says you’re going to be giving away a brand new set of living-room furniture valued at $10,000 Dollars, delivered to the person who comes into your store… registers for the contest… and comes closest to guessing how many square feet your entire furniture showroom display area is.

The person who guesses closest, gets the furniture delivered straight to the front door of their home.

You should film that entire delivery, by the way, and have that video clip playing on a television monitor over-and-over again at the front of your store, to build enthusiasm up for your next sweepstakes.

Also, if you’re really clever… team up with a local interior decorator and tell people you’ll be giving away a professionally designed custom layout as well, courtesy of this interior decorator.

Let your sweepstakes entrants know, the charge for the interior designer alone is worth “X” dollars.

Or, you could even team up with one of your furniture suppliers, and instead of having a “Guess how many square feet our showroom is” contest, you can have a “Tell me how many king size [insert your furniture supplier’s name here] beds we have in our showroom” contest.

See which of your suppliers would be willing to share the cost of your contest with you, or maybe they’d spring for the whole shebang.

Anyway, you call your lead-generating contest:

“The $10,000 Dollar Sweepstakes!”

Then, you promote the living daylights out of it!

You do a direct mail piece promoting it (postcards may even work in this case)… use your local val-paks… run display ads… have banners announcing your sweepstakes all over your store… and you give every single interior decorator and moving company you know, brochures about it, to hand out to their clients.

This does 3 things for you:

First, it gets people interested in you.

Second, it forces people to come into your store to sign up and register to win the sweepstakes. You automatically get foot-traffic, and the names and addresses of qualified leads, you wouldn’t have had without the sweepstakes.

And third, since your prospects have to guess how large your showroom is, it forces them to walk around your entire store in order to make any kind of accurate “square footage” guess, right? And do you have any idea what each-and-every one of these qualified leads will be doing when they’re browsing up and down each of your lovely furniture showroom aisles?

They’ll be checking out all your furniture!

Mom’s will be thinking “Oh, this would look so nice in the baby’s room.”

And seniors will be saying “Wow, that would look great outside on our patio.”

And crooked CEO’s like Ken Lay from Enron will be licking their chops, saying “Hey, I can use a bunch of my shareholder’s money to buy all those brand new top-of-the-line Herman Miller chairs, for all the guys back at the office!”

Whatever.

The point is, people aren’t just going to come in, see your “$10,000 Dollar Sweepstakes” sign-up booth at the front desk, fill out the form, toss their entry into the box, and then leave.

Now at first blush, you might think giving away $10,000 Dollars worth of furniture is a lot to give away for FREE.

But au contraire… let’s look at the numbers here. Remember, before you ever make any kinds of marketing decisions, you must look at your numbers.

Because…

You are in the numbers business first, NOT… the marketing business!

So… here are some numbers:

Let’s say, over a 90-day period, you get 1,500 people to sign up. That’s an average of 17 people a day, which… between you and your interior decorator, and maybe a local moving company (who will do the delivery)… should be very do-able, especially with all the “weekend” traffic, furniture stores tend to attract.

(Oh, and by the way — depending on the sweepstakes rules in your state, you may even be able to say up front “This sweepstakes is only valid if we receive 2,000 entries.”, or whatever numbers work for you.)

And… let’s say your average customer sale is $1,000 dollars.

This means, you’ll need to make 10 sales to at least break even on the deal — now. Plus, whatever it costs you to promote your sweepstakes, so… let’s say you need to make 12 sales to make this promotion break even.

What you have to ask yourself, is… will you make 12 sales, to the 1,500 people who’ve come into your store and signed up for your sweepstakes?

That’s one sale, to every 125 people who come sauntering through your front doors.

Can you do this?

Honestly, I don’t know.

It depends on what your conversion ratio of prospects-to-customers is. Meaning, how many of your prospects, do you actually convert into paying customers?

But at least, now you have a working formula to use, so you can figure out what numbers you need, to make this sweepstakes of yours work!

Plus remember… you’re using this sweepstakes to generate leads for future sales, not for making sales today, right?

So what you also have to take into consideration, is…

How many sales will you make over the next 12 months, by sending out a monthly marketing piece to all these 1,500 qualified new leads you’ve now got?

After all, isn’t that what you’re supposed to be doing with your qualified leads, anyway?

And this translates into, “Will you be able to make a sale to 1 out of every 125 people who came through your doors, sometime during the next 12 months?”

Well, even if you’re only a halfway decent copywriter… as long as you’re consistently making these prospects a compelling offer each-and-every-month…

You Should Be Able To Do That!

Sweepstakes are especially good for retail stores, since they seem to have a hard time building their prospect list up.

It’s tough to get people’s name and address when they come in your store, especially if they’re just browsing and they don’t buy anything.

And why are sweepstakes so effective at generating qualified leads for you?

The answer is simple: For the most part, people don’t go out of their way to enter sweepstakes for items they don’t want, or wouldn’t buy at some point in time, on their own.

And really, almost any business can run a sweepstakes.

Like if you’re a hotel, raffle off an overnight stay in one of your better rooms. Then you do the same thing the furniture store owner did — you make a consistent offer to each and every person who signed up to win the overnight stay.

When you’re running a sweepstakes to generate leads, you must remember the purpose of “lead-generation”. And that is, sometimes it’s easier to build up your list of leads, so you can make consistent offers to your prospects, than it is to just try and sell them something directly.

(For more information on using “2-Step” lead-generating selling formulas, see my article and “2-Step” writing samples here.)

And running a sweepstakes is a fun and exciting way to get your prospects motivated and all fired-up about your business.

Do you know the most popular sweepstakes ever ran? (Yes, even more popular than “Ed McMahon’s Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes!)

Well, the most popular sweepstakes ever ran, was put on by AOL in April, 2004. Over 1 Million people entered the contest to win a Porsche Boxter seized by federal authorities, from a major internet spammer.

And let me ask you this: Do you think AOL did just a “little” marketing to those 1 million entrants?

Did you know, if AOL only got a 0.25% conversion rate, of entrants who eventually became AOL subscribers (that’s 1 out of every 400 people)… even at the lowest AOL subscriber plan of only $24 Dollars a month, this turns into…

$60,000 Dollars A Month… or… $720,000 Dollars A Year… Forever… For AOL!

Ka-ching! Not bad, hey?
