How eBooks can be very valuable
By: Andy George

EBooks have a number of benefits over the traditional book. These include the following:
Cheaper to create
Quicker to create
Easier to target a wide market
High profit potential
More versatile than traditional books

Lets look at each of these points in turn:

Cheaper to create:

The eBook can be created on a shoestring budget since it is possible for its publishing and marketing costs to be minimal. On the other hand the traditional book has a higher cost structure. This means the author will have to overcome a tough sales target before they even consider making a profit on the book.

The costs the author will incur if he follows a traditional book format include:
Publishing costs
The profit margin that the bookstores will want to sell the book
Distribution costs
Marketing costs including advertising costs

Quicker to create

The eBook could be written and published in as little as 7 days. For other potential authors who work at a slower pace, the whole process of writing and publishing a book could be done within a month.

On the other hand for a traditional book the time span between starting a book and writing it could take around 18 months. By that time the information contained in the book could be out of date especially if the book is technology or research related.

Easier to target a wide market

With eBooks the sky the limit! The eBook may be sold on the Internet to anyone who has a credit card and an Internet connection in any place in the world. Since an author can control the topics of their book, they can decide whom to market to.

However with a traditional book it may be difficult to expand to new markets since it will involve further significant costs on distribution and marketing.

High profit potential

EBooks can be produced on a shoestring budget but since customers may believe they offer value for money, the author may charge more for them than expected. It is not impossible for almost everything grossed from an eBook being profit.

On the other hand traditional books have high production and marketing costs and this means the author (unless they are very popular) will have great difficulty in recovering these costs and making a profit.

More versatile than traditional books

EBooks could be used for a number of purposes. The most common method is for the sale of the eBook. However an eBook could be used as a free gift to customers to entice them to buy a product from you. It can also be transformed into audiocassettes or digital products.

To conclude eBooks are a very valuable tool that could be used as a profit centre, as a publishing tool or as a marketing tool. It has many advantages over the traditional book.

Betting House Gaming: Introducing Taking Risks

January 26th, 2009

Most commonly a betting hall is a building that focuses on games of luck. Here, clients are encouraged to take a wager by operating coin operated machines or another betting pastimes. Betting establishment games generally have numerically derived probabilities constituting them which maintain that the betting organization possesses its leverage against the gaming devotees. Bodog Casinos

A huge number of betting hall games can make you end up hooked swiftly. For instance the simple 1-armed bandit, a coin operated machine with three or more drums that orbit when an arm coupled to it is started. This machine routinely pays up in correspondence to a row of pictures seen on the front panel of the gadget. Regrettably, betting house pastimes proffer an illusion of power, tricking the guest — the victim is bestowed with alternatives, but they won’t ever realistically compensate for the customer’s longterm handicap. That is precipitated by the gaming establishment not paying the full stake as expected. This structure is again and again seen at work in popular casino games such as five-card stud, craps, roulette or blackjack.

Five card stud is certainly a highly popular casino game. The patrons, holding concealed hands, must place bets into a central pot which is finally bestowed onto the last gamester in possession of the best combination of cards. (Of course, the shameless bluffing hand may well prevail as well.) Just like stud poker, blackjack too is an incredibly trendy casino game. An amount of its popularity is due to its peculiar mix of chance and technique & choice making, and a practise termed Card Counting. It is a sophisticated strategy in which customers will turn the arm of chance of the card game in their favor both by wagering & fundamental actions in accordance with the hands shown.

Craps is yet another incredibly popular gambling hall game making use of the throw of dice. Gamesters will make wagers on the score of one spin, or on a string of cycles on two dice. In contrast to blackjack, there isn’t any possible bona fide winner betting system players could make capital of to improve the odds.

Roulette is an eminently popular casino based game. A croupier will turn a roulette wheel enclosing precisely thirtyseven (European roulette) or exactly thirty-eight (Vegas roulette) uniquely marked cells in which a rolling pellet must settle, which marks the winning number Assuming that the gamester has put money on any given number and wins, which is to say it’s their lucky day, the set bounty is going to be thirty-five to one, the initial wager itself being rebated. Thus in total it’s increased by a factor of 36.

Do make a point of being emphatically on the alert nevertheless for these betting hall games of chance can be very much dependency forming. Way too many lives have been spoilt through inordinate gambling & even though it admittedly may be enjoyable, struggle to control oneself.

I Won’t Loose Hope

January 25th, 2009

I long for you
In the night,
During the day
In almost everyway

I love you
I can’t deny
I care for you
But I’m too shy

Should I tell you
That I love you
But I’m a girl
And that wouldn’t be right

But you’re too slow
And I don’t even know
If you love me
If you even care

But still, I won’t loose hope
I’ll still keep praying
That one day you’ll be saying
That you love me too

I Love Thee And Will Yield To Thee

January 23rd, 2009

When Spring awakes the sleeping trees and unfurls the leaves;
When flowers bloom, and meadows green and fresh the air gives.
When sun beams are on the woodlands where cool wind do blows,
And clear dews on blossom drops and saps are on the boughs;
When the light on the rainforest ponders, and streams are clear,
I love thee and will yield to thee and swear my love is fair.

When summer warms over our lands and fields are all gold;
And birds shall fly then flocks in the sky ; there joy’s unfold;
When vines on vineyards untwine and smells for wine to made;
When grass be brown and grapes shall dry in orchard they laid;
When fruits swell ’til they ripens and harvest will be done,
I love thee and will to thee and will not be gone.

When Winter comes, the mountain caps will be filled with snows;
When breeze of the wind so freeze and cold and it bitter it blows;
When leaves shall fall and boughs are broken by winter’s blade;
When mourning comes on valleys and days sadly wade.
When songs and music be silenced in the starless night,
I love thee and will yield to thee for my love’s give light.

I’ll rest upon her love for’ver ’til change of weather.
I’ll love thee and will to thee ’til world’s over.

Google Tests Expanded Search To Include Printed Works

January 23rd, 2009

Google Labs is currently testing Google Print, which returns results from within scanned printed books along with Google’s standard web search results. The searcher doesn’t have to do anything special - the printed work results are already included in the Google database. Searchers have the option of narrowing their search by including, for example, the word “book” in their search terms. For example, a search on “home repair” might return a variety of web sites, online merchants, etc., while changing the search to “home repair book” will help filter the results to include more material scanned directly from books.

Publishers don’t want their entire books read online of course, so Google limits the number of pages a single user may read at any one time. A user can see the page where their search was found, plus they can go two pages forward and two pages backward from their original result page. Google provides links to merchants where the book can be purchased. Google earns no revenue from book purchases, but they do display their contextual advertising within the Google Print results, and they share this with participating publishers.

Once you’ve found your search terms in a book, you can then enter additional search terms that will be limited to the book itself, rather than the entire web. Google’s selection includes both fiction and non-fiction, technical reference and professional books, textbooks, and more.

Since Google Print is currently in testing, a searcher won’t necessarily find results from every book they expect to see. As the program grows, Google has indicated they will continue to add books to their searchable database. Publishers who want to participate can do so for free.

LISTEN TO THE RADIO - WRITE BETTER E-CONTENT

January 23rd, 2009

Recently, I was asked to write a radio program for a non-
profit organization. I had worked in broadcast journalism
for many years before I switched to online communications
and really enjoyed getting back to my radio roots.

But something interesting happened as I was writing the
script. Over and over again, I noticed just how much radio
writing and effective web content have in common:

=>Both depend on high impact, attention-getting statements:
“Weight loss without misery is possible if you…”; “The
President has been found in a compromising position…”;
“Want to know how to get your teens to talk to you?”

=>Both forms benefit from short, punchy sentences that use
basic language and get to the point fast. E-business
consultant Philip Say even uses radio lingo when he
explains how to write strong e-mail newsletters and sales
letters.

He says, “Sound bites are the most effective way to grab
the attention of the reader. The challenge today is to
deliver short, meaningful messages that will initiate a
conversation with your audience. You have to pack a punch
into 50 words or fewer.”

The average 30-second radio commercial has only 50 to 80
words. So writing a radio spot for your online product or
service is a good exercise in how to write tight. And it’s
a good lesson in ruthless editing, possibly the hardest and
most important part of the writing process!

=>Both radio and web content communicate better without
jargon or foreign terms. I once used the French word
“ennui” instead of “boredom” in one of my marketing
articles. As a result, the piece sounded pretentious and
I looked like a twit.

=>Both radio and web writing are improved by personality.
Think about the radio announcers you like best. Probably
you enjoy their voices as much as what they say. Your
online content needs a voice too. For a good example of
this, check out the very distinctive personality of The
Newbie Club (http://www.newbieclub.com), which carries
right over into their newsletters.

=>The audience must come first. Radio announcers often
pretend they are talking to just one person, imagining
that person’s age, their lifestyle, their hopes and dreams.
(I once worked for a very earnest radio station that had
the production staff dress up a life-size doll to represent
their ideal demographic - sort of a crash test dummy for
target marketing!) You don’t have to go that far, but aim
what you’re saying/writing to that one person who
represents your target audience. They are the reason for
what you do.

Now start listening to radio with a critical ear. Practice
writing content as if it’s for radio. It may help you inject
some real personality into your ads, e-zine or website.

Apple’s iPhone and Porn

January 21st, 2009

Steve Jobs of the Apple Company has never been a part of the pornography industry but thinking about what his iPhone can do, he may have inadvertently further facilitated how people access pornographic content. The iPhone, Apple’s latest baby, has revolutionized how people use the handy cellular phone. In addition to wireless communication, music, and pictures, the Apple iPhone, with its 3G capabilities, can now play streaming and steaming pornography videos anytime, anywhere. Due to this, Google searches for the term iPhone Porn is continually spiking as the months go by.

With the Apple iPhone’s crisp video quality and Internet connectivity, handheld and portable porn has just stepped a notch higher.

Asked what Apple’s stand on the issue is, Apple spokesperson Jennifer Bowcock said that the company does not encourage such activity and has moved to ban the inclusion of adult material from the phone’s applications. However, Steve Job’s Apple cannot prevent iPhone users from downloading adult content into their phones through the phone’s browsers.

So where does this lead? Steve Jobs, for all his noble intentions when his company designed the iPhone, may have overlooked this issue. But pornography was invented way back before his company was founded; it is unfair to blame the company for such occurrences. As harsh as it may sound, porn is here to stay. It is how people deal with porn that matters.
