According to a survey conducted by uSwitch, the average hold time per technical support call is 12 minutes for the service provider TalkTalk. The time spent on hold translates into huge money spent on phone charges. A conservative estimate is that it is £1.75 per call. This makes it a wastage worth millions of pounds on such calls.

Apart from this, the results show that of the approximately six million customers, six out of ten do not get satisfactory answers to their problems by calling technical support. It is not that TalkTalk alone has received flak for these results. TalkTalk has opposed these results, which it claims are unscientific. Orange is all set to launch its new 20MB high-speed service for its UK customers in the fixed line broadband segment.
