Confidence
August 12th, 2010I’m not usually one of those guys who gives a lot of those Tony Robbins “The Power of Believing in Yourself” talks, but there’s a lot of power in believing in yourself at the poker table. Seriously. People who’ve played long enough know which guys are fairly confident in what they’re doing and which ones are grasping at straws.
Not only does playing with a defeatist attitude act as blood in the water for your opponents to track, it can also directly affect how you play poker online. When you think you’re going to lose, you’re going to end up playing as if you wanted to prove yourself right. You may play more passively with cards that you should be aggressive with. You’ll start folding hands that you should play and playing hands that you should fold, and you’re pretty much going to find yourself living on the edge of tilt.
That’s not to say that you should always assume that your cards are the best ad that you’re going to win every hand, but you need to know that you can win. Play each hand at Everest Poker planning to win, and if you see that things aren’t going your way, get out so you can win the next one.
